Q: How soon can I expect results?

A: You can see results in as little as one session! However, to see long-lasting, permanent results, more than one session may be required.

Q: What is hypnotherapy/hypnosis? How does it work?

A: Hypnosis helps you overcome subconscious roadblocks so othat you can change your mindset, emotional responses, and your behavior patterns while building inner strengths and resources to break through what is holding you back and supporting you in the changes you wish to make now and in the future. This is achieved by putting the brain into a Theta brain wave state, which is the same state achieved through meditation. In this Theta wave state, the brain is more responsive to the setting and planning of goals, as the subconscious is kept out of the way.

Q: What if I can’t be hypnotized? Are there other options?

A: Not everyone can be hypnotized. The purpose of the hypnosis is to help your brain achieve Theta brain waves, where it becomes easier to set long term goals without the resistance or roadblocks that are often put up by our subconscious.

If getting hypnotized is difficult for your, there are other methods the achieve the Theta brain wave state that Dr. Hyong can use, including Tai Chi and guided meditation. There are always options.

Q: What makes your approach different from other hypnotherapists?

A: Dr. Hyong has an incredibly varied background and that he brings to the table. Starting with an M.S. in Economics, followed by his Ph.D. in Psychology/Hypnotherapy, Dr. Hyong is a board certified hypnotherapist and is also a certified NLP trainer (neuro linguistic programming). He is also a Tae Kwon Do Grandmaster who is an expert in the art of centeredness.

Q: What makes your approach different from traditional counseling/therapy?

A: Linda Connors, hypnotherapist and life coach from the UK, does an excellent job explaining the difference between hypnotherapy, and traditional counseling.

Counseling is a space where someone meets with a counselor once a week for 10 weeks, or 3 or more years attending once, twice or even three times a week, for psychotherapy.

Counseling is not proactive or dynamic. Talking, support, and reflecting is mainly what happens in counseling and psychotherapy and although these are very important aspects as some people do need a safe space to do that. I feel a fundamental part of the process is missing in traditional counseling and that is giving clients the tools to make the changes in their life.

Hypnotherapy is a process which is much more proactive and dynamic than counseling/ psychotherapy, as hypnosis goes straight to the unconscious and subconscious part of the mind much more quickly than traditional therapy.

From this place change can and does happen very quickly and effectively.  Some people do experience profound change within one session, but usually more sessions are required for long lasting improvement.
